The head of the Royal Government of Cambodia considers private educational institutions to be an important partner of the Royal Government in promoting the education sector in Cambodia, especially during the time when Cambodia experienced the epidemic of Kovid 19.However, in order to encourage private educational institutions to continue to contribute to the Cambodian education sector, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, has decided not to tax private educational institutions for the next five years, from 2024 to 2028.

On February 1, 2023, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, met with a delegation of higher education institutions led by HE Dr. Heng Vanda, Chairman of the Board of Higher Education Associations. On that occasion, Samdech Hun Sen praised the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports' measures to promote online education during the Kovid 19 crisis. Samdech Techo also thanked all higher education institutions for their active participation in human resource training in Cambodia.

HE Dr. Heng Vanda, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Higher Education Institutions, emphasized that in order to contribute to solving the difficulties of private educational institutions, the Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, decided not to collect taxes from private educational institutions for another 5 years, namely from 2024 to 2028.

HE Dr. Heng Vanda emphasized that all private educational institutions have strongly welcomed the decision of the Royal Government of Cambodia to extend the tax exemption so that all institutions are able to develop as well as strengthen the quality of institutions.According to the chairman of the board of the same association, the Royal Government has implemented this tax concession since 1996, with the head of the Royal Government of Cambodia also observed that private educational institutions have played an important role in the development of human resources in Cambodia, so the prince decided not to take Tax for another 5 years. His Excellency believes that this preferential tax is an important contribution to enable private educational institutions to strengthen themselves to be active and improve the quality of education.
